The extra layer helps the bag reach its maximum vacuum capabilities and in doing so increases the stiffness of the aluminum layer making it almost impossible to puncture.

We carefully designed the air valve to match any vacuum pump you might use. Whether you're using a manual pump or an electric one, the suction will work.
The granular Aluminum layer makes the bag easier to vacuum than ever. It increases air resistance making the bag hard as rock once vacuumed.
Unlike standard mylar bags, you don't need to use oxygen absorbers to get rid of the oxygen anymore, the provided electric pump will do it all for you. It will give you that beautiful vacuum sealed look that you need.
The SV products have what's called a "multi usable" formula. This means it's flexible. You can easily use it as regular mylar bag if that's what you want. You can heat seal it and put in oxygen absorbers just like mylar bags. It will stay smell proof, light proof and heat resistant.
For instance, if you're storing short term, you might want to use the ziplock feature. If you're storing long term, you could still use a heat seal or a vacuum seal.

Pre-Storage Tip: Make sure the electric vacuum pump is fully charged before storage. A usb cable is provided to recharge the pump if needed.
Prime Tip #1: Start by using the colorful tags to label all the bags you be will using first, this will make it easier to store food in case you sealed the bag and forgot what you placed in it.
Prime Tip #2: Gently rub your thumb around the blue valve of each bag. This step is necessary to brush off anything that might lingering on the valve and allows for an efficient suction.
Prime Tip #3: Place the food inside each bag.
Prime Tip #4: At this point, you can either heat seal or zip seal the bag before the suction. In both scenarios, make sure the zipper is tightly closed.
Prime Tip #5: Place the vacuum pump over the valve and align it so it matches the shape of the valve. They need to be matching on top of each other or you will have problems suctioning the bag.
Prime Tip #6: Press the button on the pump to start the suction and you have a superb vacuumed bag.
